Magazine Genre Selection

After every photo shoot of trying out different genres and seeing which ones we like most, we are finally choosing our final one to stay with. My final choice I want is Art & Design. This assignment is to explain on why Art & Design what I chose to stick with.

At first, we had two genres we chose and did photoshoots of each one and explain the process of them. Afterwards our teacher wanted us to practice us taking photos, so she made assignments of doing a new photo shoot every week of every genre. At the end we have all progressed and gained skills in taking photos as we have also been getting back good and bad feedback to help us what we did good and what we could improve on. Now it's the end of all the practices and I ended up choosing Art & Design. I have found it as the one I have done best at and really gained good skills from it. In the beginning of starting these photoshoots I found it difficult, and humbling because I thought that I was good at taking them and that it was going to be easy. Then after my first time presenting them to the class and receiving feedback, I realized that were a lot of things I was lacking on. I was not good at the lighting, the angles, the background, and would often show shadows in them. Then with each photo I would focus on all those details in my photos to make sure there's no mistakes like something popping out in the background. With this I also learned how to edit. Obviously, I would have mistakes happen but that's why we would continue to try again and again. Art & Design was the genre I had most fun with while learning these details. It was also cool to see all different types of art designs there are. To see art can be a pretty thing to look at and at the same time have a meaning or a message to it was beautiful. Art can be used for decoration or as a way to speak and reach to people about certain subjects. For example, things going around the world. It impacts people on how they view things. That type of art is called propaganda. Overall, I chose Art & Design because it's an interesting experience to photoshoot.
