In class our assignment was to take photos of magazines of the two genres we have and from those two, we should have 2 of each magazine. We needed to take photos of the front cover. Here are my magazines.

Food & Beverage

The first cover I took a picture of the central image are multiple pies of different flavors with different decorations on top. The masthead is "Secret Family Holiday Recipes" and they made "Holiday" bigger than "Secret" and "Recipe" to emphasize how the magazine focuses on recipes for holiday meals and deserts. All in the color green. The main cover line is "Nostalgia in a Dish". The "in a dish" is in a different font than "Nostalgia" which grabs your attention to imagine how good the meal can be. The cover lines are in the right side about classic dishes that interest the audience with a variety to choose from. The puff is at the top right corner saying "97 Best-Loved Faves" letting the readers know that they have a history of being the best. The barcode is on the lower left side corner of the cover.

Second cover of Food & Beverage, the central image is a board filled with groups of different cookies. All of them are in the festive holiday colors and even one of group of them has a decoration of a Christmas tree. This cover and the previous one are both about holiday dessert recipes. The masthead is at the top saying "Taste of Home Holiday Cookies & baking". It has 3 different fonts, and the "Holiday" is yellow. At the top in red is the headline and all the words are in the same font in white except the first subject of the magazine is in yellow. Theres only one cover line which is at the bottom right corner. It points it out by first saying "PlUS!" and then continues listing extra things it involves. There are two puffs in both sides of the cover. In the left its bigger and edited into a red ornament then the one on the right is just white. Both puffs let us know the number of meals they have to show and that they are new and not original. The barcode is at the bottom left side.

First, what they have different is the first cover has more information on their genre meanwhile the second cover tells the audience very little on what it provides. Another thing about the first cover is that meanwhile it's presenting their subjects to talk about, they present it in a more viewable way. For example, they have their cover line spaced out over the central image yet still giving it space to get a clear view unlike the second cover they present their one coverline on the bottom in a small size across from the barcode leaving half of the audience not being able to notice it. Second, their similarities are mainly on how it's about Christmas dishes. Also, on how they both do their masthead, cover lines, and puffs in different fonts and colors to bring out the holiday theme.

Art & Design

The central image on the first cover is all types of tools spread out on a table for a project like paint brushes, scissors, paper, fake flowers, and tailor needles. In contrast, for the second one it is the artist standing with an art piece behind her. The masthead is at the top in yellow. The "WHAT" is in a different font then from the rest of title "WOMEN CREATE". The mast head for the second one is a cities name instead of a title that has to do with the art. The first cover has a headline which is "INSIPRATION FOR YOUR IMAGINATION" meanwhile the second one does not. Another major different thing that's between both covers is that the first cover has no main cover line, cover lines, a puff, a selling line, and etc. The second cover has a main cover line that says, "Contemplative PRACTICES" and under it saying the artist's name which she is central image and her work. Then there's the coverlines for the second cover that are on left upper side. One similar thing is about the barcodes. they are both on the left bottom corner.
