Magazine Genre Research

Today in class we talked about all the magazine genres that we could work on. Our blog for today is to talk about four genres that we chose and on why we chose them. The four I picked are Teen, Art & Design, Home & Garden, and Food & Beverage.

TEEN

I chose teen for one of my genres because as a teen myself I can relate to a lot of the teen events going on and I like seeing the different point of views of kids that are in my situation. I like teen genre because it's interesting to talk about all the trends that are going around for teenagers and what's going on, on social media. The trends that teen magazines focus on are about different lifestyles, beauty tips, drama with celebrities, healthy tips, and fun activities to do with your friends. This picture is a perfect example because it points out advice for teen girls like learning new dance moves or fun activities like little quizzes to do with friends.

Art & Design

I chose Art & Design because it will be a fun experience to see all different art and design ideas people have in their minds and how they make their ideas come to life. I like Art & Design because it's fascinating to see what the artist has in their mind for example, they put their feelings onto an art piece, or they paint something in their point of view of the world. It shows that everyone goes their own experience of life, and we are all different in our own creative way. this picture is an example of how an artist sees a person through their point of view, they see nature and a bunch of colors surrounding the person plus adding in patterns.

Home & Garden

Next, I chose Home & Garden as one because I would like to photograph and write about house tips and garden tips. I like Home & Garden because I find it cute and very pretty how people design their homes with furniture and adding in natures touch around it. For example, this magazine cover shows the cute and modern furniture and to make it look warming and colorful, a flower wall was added in the back and pink flowers on the table to match the pink pillows.

Food & Beverage

Lastly I chose Food & Beverage because it will be fun to learn new recipes for food and drinks and to learn about specific restaurants. I like food and beverage because as a person that loves food, I love seeing it the way its photographed and learning the new recipes. It shows that you can make many delicious meals from all around the world. This magazine cover is a good example because in the side it adds notes on the business that its talking about and it shows how good the burger is photographed.
